Andhra Pradesh is the third largest state in India with Hyderabad as its capital. The fertile coastal plains of Andhra Pradesh, make it one of the largest producer of rice in India. Thus, it is also known as the Rice Granary of India. Andhra Pradesh is a calendar of one long procession of festivals. Festivals in Andhra Pradesh are characterized by color, gaiety, enthusiasm, feasts and a variety of prayers and rituals.
Tourists are surprised by the scale and multiplicity of the festivities that populate the cultural scene of this land. All Festivals in Andhra Pradesh are celebrated with equal pomp and gaiety. Be it the age old traditional Hindu Festivals or the Muslim festivity of brotherhood or Christmas.

The diversity of the state is manifested in its people, languages, religions and cultures. Brahmotsavam at Tirupati and the Sri Rama Navami Festival at Bhadrachalam are the most popular Festivals in Andhra Pradesh.
Four Festivals in Andhra Pradesh are conducted by Andhra Pradesh Tourism, every year. These Festivals are Deccan Festival, Lumbini Festival, Utsav and Rayalaseema Food and Dance Festival. The Deccan festival is a celebration of Hyderabad's arts, crafts, culture and cuisine. The highlight of the festival are the Pearls and Bangles fair and a food fair.
The Lumbini festival celebrates the Buddhist Heritage of Andhra Pradesh. This festival is celebrated in Nagarjunasagar and Hyderabad for three days from second Friday of December, every year. The Visaka Utsav is a celebration of the arts, crafts and cuisine of Visakahapatan district. The Rayalaseema Food and Dance Festival is held in the month of October. This festival displays the arts and cuisine of Rasyalaseema area of Tirupati in Chitoor district.
