Bodh Gaya is the main pilgrimage site for the Buddhists along with Kushinagar, Sarnath and Lumbini which relates to the life of Buddha. Nalanda is a famous Buddhist centers 90 km from Patna. The Nalanda University, the Hiuen Tsang Memorial Hall, the Surya Mandir the Nalanda Museum and the Nav Nalanda Vihar are the famous attractions of Bihar.
The Vaishali is an important spiritual center of Bihar 65 km from Patna. It is the spiritual center of Buddhists and Jains. Vaishali is the birth place of the 24th Jain Tirthankara, Lord Mahavira. Lord Buddha preached his last sermon at Vaishali. Plan a day’s trip to the Shanti Stupa, the Ashokan pillars and many other Buddhist and Jain structures.
At a distance of 148 km from Patna is the beautiful and grand tomb of Sher Shah at Sasaram. The Maa Tara Chandi Temple also makes Sasaram famous. The Vishupad Temple at Gaya is the main temple of the Hindus dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The Lakshmi Narayan Mandir at Rajgir dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi is famous for numerous hot springs. It is visited by thousands of devotees as it is believed that taking a dip in the hot springs will take away all evil. The Muslims are strictly not allowed in the temple.
